Office you are seeking: South Suburban Parks and Recreation District Board of Directors

Age: 70 years young

Family: I have been married to my wife, Cheryl, for 40 years. We have three children, five wonderful , and a great grandchild, who are spread out between Denver, Seattle, and the Houston area. I have been married to my wife, Cheryl, for 40 years. We have three children, five wonderful grandchildren, and a great grandchild, who are spread out between Denver, Seattle, and the Houston area.

Occupation: Retired from 32 years of project and operational management in the energy industry. My last assignment in this field was as a team leader on the environmental restoration and transition of a 17,000 acre site into a premier urban National Wildlife Refuge in the Denver metropolitan area. I am also a US Navy Vietnam veteran.

Previous elected office: I am honored to have served on the South Suburban Parks and Recreation Board of Directors for the past four years. I have gained valuable experience concerning te assets, the staff, the decision making processes, and a better understanding of how the District promotes healthy living in the community. I also have a better appreciation for the importance of collaborative relationships with other organizations in the community so that we can work together to improve the quality of life in our communities.

Why are you seeking office?
I am seeking re-election to the South Suburban Parks and Recreation District Board of Directors because I believe in the personal and community benefits of promoting recreational activity for all residents.I have the experience, the time, and the passion to continue serving the constituents of the SSPR District for a second term.

How have you contributed to the community?
Prior to serving as a Board Member of SSPR District for the past four years, in 2008 I served on the Citizen’s Committee that produced the 2020 Gold Medal Strategic Plan for South Suburban Parks and Recreation District. I have also served on the Lone Tree Men’s Club Board of Directors for the past 14 years.

What are the biggest issues facing your constituency?
Our most pressing challenges are to maintain the high quality of the District’s existing facilities and programs, to stay fiscally sound, and to balance improving recreational opportunities in partnership with the community.
